Create a job for the automatic execution of the data backup. Make sure that the data backup is executed outside of the Bp event utilisation (server restart) and that no parallel jobs are set up (administrative permissions needed).

  1. Go to the Einrichtung Configurations tab and select Job Jobs > neu New.
  2. Enter a unique Name and, if applicable, a Title for the job.
  3. Select a Service Client from the picklist.
Note: As of version 12, it is possible to set up several service clients in the administrative settings and distribute the load of job processing to the various service clients. Jobs can be permanently assigned to a service client. Without a fixed assignment, the job is executed on a service client that has capacity at that time (load balancing). On a server with 32 GB memory and 8 cores, we recommend separating at least the web server and jobs on the service clients, and ideally also email retrieval on a separate service client.
Example: Email retrieval separately on a service client, so other jobs and web users are not slowed down.
  4. Select "Data backup" as the job Type from the picklist.
  5. Select "Series" as the Start time/condition to start the data backup automatically as standard.
  6. Click on edit Series to enter the start parameters.
Recommendation: Set a daily data backup at a time outside the Bp event usage.
  7. Enter the Target directory of the data backup.
Note: The target directory must be on the Bp Event Server.
  8. Enter the Number of backups.
Note: 3 backup sets are set by default. The fourth backup automatically overwrites the oldest backup.
  9. Aktiv Activate the job in the toolbar of the input window.
  10. save Save your input by clicking on the icon in the top left-hand corner of the input window.
Note: Every Bp Event user is informed of a faulty data backup. On login, a yellow bar is displayed, and after three days a red bar is displayed, indicating the last successful data backup.

Important: The target directory on the Bp Event Server must also be accessible when the server is started as a service. The service is started under the local Windows user account System and may therefore not be able to access external drives. Ensure that there is sufficient storage capacity on the target drive. The size of the database and therefore the required storage space can grow considerably over time. The minimum storage capacity can be calculated as follows:

Required free storage space = (number of backups + 1)* size of data file
