Creating a food or drinks menuM
- Open a new menu card
Menu CardsM can either be created from scratch or copied and changed.
- Go to the Home tab on the function bar, click on Menu cards > New and select your companyM (if applicable).
- A new menu card will open.
Alternatively, copy and edit an existing menu card.
- Go to the Home tab on the function bar and click on Menu cards to start a search.
- Select the menu card in the list and click on Copy in the horizontal toolbar.
- The copy of the selected menu card will open including all booked items and other data.
- Enter names and descriptions for the menu card
A speaking name, the assignment to a suitable group and a description including keywords all improve search results when looking up existing menu cards.
- Enter a unique and speaking Name for the menu card.
Note: Set an operational standard for menu card names for easier retrieval. - Click on the Group field and select a group from the drop-down list.
Note: Groups are used for structuring and improving search results. - Enter more detailed information on the menu card in the Description input field.
- Enter a unique and speaking Name for the menu card.
- Add existing items to the menu card
Add existing items to the menu card.
- The quickest way to add an individual item is to use the search field New item in the toolbar directly above the input window. Enter a search term such as name, item number or PLU number and press Enter to confirm.
- Open the standard item search by clicking on the dropdown triangle next to Add and select Search items.
- Select one item by left-clicking (hold down the Ctrl key for multi-select) and click on Apply to copy the items you want.
- To insert all items of one item group collectively, select the group in the item search, mark all items in the list of results (CTRL+A) and click on Apply.
- Add new items to the menu card
Added new items to the menu on-the-fly.
- Click on the dropdown triangle next to Add and select Item group.
- Double-click to select an item group.
- A new line with an empty name field will appear in the menu card. Enter the name of the new item.
- To add the new item to the database as a regular master item, select Create on request and fill in the relevant fields. The item will then also available for selection for other events (Creating an item)
- Expand combo items in the menu card
Combo items such as drinks packages, buffets or menus can be expanded to list their components for customers.
- Insert a combo item into the menu card as described above.
- Select the item and click on Expand in the horizontal toolbar to display all the components of a combo item.
- Save your input by clicking on the icon in the top left-hand corner of the input window.
- Change the order of items on the menu card
Each new item is added to the menu card at the bottom, or below the item that is highlighted at the time. However, the order can be changed later.
- Select an item in the item list on the General tab of the menu card.
- Hold down the left mouse button and drag the item to the position you want (Drag&Drop).
Note: To move several rows at the same time, select the items while holding down the Ctrl key and drag them to the position you want with the left mouse button pressed down while holding down the Alt key (Drag-and-Drop).
- Enter a validity date for the menu card
Menu cards can be valid for a certain period of time (e.g. special promotions, season tickets). If cards are used with a POS system (interface), items are not shown in the cash register outside the specified period.
- Enter a Valid from/to date for Menu cards with limited validity. The date must be at least one day later than the current date.
Note: The validity date of the menu card will decide which items and prices are shown. - Change the validity period of the menu card immediately after adjusting prices and confirm the prompt by clicking Refresh.
Note: Price adjustments in individual items or in price maintenance list are not automatically passed on to menu cards. Make sure to update the menu cards individually. - Save your input by clicking on the icon in the top left-hand corner of the input window.
- Enter a Valid from/to date for Menu cards with limited validity. The date must be at least one day later than the current date.
- Assign the menu card to a cash registerS
Menu cards are often used with an interface to a POS system. For this purpose, the card is assigned to a suitable cash register. Users with the appropriate authorisation can create new cash registers or make changes on the Accounting tab under Cash registers .
- Go to the Cash registers tab.
- Add a cash register from the picklist.
- Save your input by clicking on the icon in the top left-hand corner of the input window.
- Select the file format for the menu card
Menu cards can be created in either text or graphic file formats.
- For more formatting options such as added fields and images, select a Text processingM template. All text templates and the usual options for text design (font size, font type, font style, images, etc.) will be available in order to brand and customise your menu card.
- The graphic menu card format, in which you can add images and texts, is available even without the Menu Cards module.
- Save your input by clicking on the icon in the top left-hand corner of the input window.
- Format the menu card as a text document
With the Menu CardsM module, a second tab Menu card appears in the input window as soon as the "Text document" format is selected.
- Go to the Menu Card tab in the side navigation.
- The document may appear empty on first opening because no template has been selected yet.
- Select an existing text template (From list or By code) in the toolbar, or create a new template. Read more on Creating text templates
Note: Only "Menu card" and "Text block" templates are available here. - Further formatting options are available on the toolbar and the context menu of the document itself.
- Save your input by clicking on the icon in the top left-hand corner of the input window.
- Format the menu card as a graphic document
Depending on the Output type selected on the General tab of the menu card, a tab will appear for either a Graphic or a Text document file.
- Go to the Menu Card tab in the toolbar.
- The document may appear empty on firstopening because no template has been selected yet.
- Select an existing template for the menu card from the Templates frop-down list or create a new template.
- Further formatting options are available on the toolbar and the context menu of the document itself.
- Save your input by clicking on the icon in the top left-hand corner of the input window.
- Save the menu card in PDF format
- Click on the small arrow next to Print in the toolbar of the input window to save the menu card in PDF format.
- Select PDFand save the document externally using the PDF menu.
- Click on Save document to disk in various formats in the toolbar and select PDF.
- Print the menu card
Print the card using a preset printer.
- Click on Print in the toolbar to print the menu card.
- Select a Printerand confirm the output settings and printer selection in the following print dialogue.
