Why did the backup fail?

Bp Event data backup protects your data from loss in the event of a fault. Regardless of whether you work with a Bp Event Standalone (single workstation) or with a Bp Event Server.

The data backup is configured once and then performed automatically at regular intervals. A logbook is written in addition to the data backup. It continuously records all database operations between two backup runs, thus ensuring complete security.
If an incident occurs (e.g. power failure) that damages your database, it is restored fully automatically. For this purpose, a restore of the last data backup is carried out and the contents of the logbook are integrated. Within a very short time, you can put your application back into segment with the current data status.

Important: It is your own responsibility to back up the data. Please check regularly that it has been carried out correctly. If you have any questions, please contact the hotline directly.

Ist auf dem Server/Ziellaufwerk genügend Speicherplatz
If you are working with a client-server version or a standalone version of Bp Event, there must be sufficient storage capacity on the server/destination drive for the data backup. The size of the database and thus the required storage space can grow considerably over time.

Check the storage capacity on the destination drive and release storage if necessary.

Minimum storage capacity = (number of backups + 1)* size of data file

Für die automatische Ausführung der Datensicherung wird ein Job angelegt. Benutzer mit administrativen Berechtigungen können diesen Job anlegen.

check Check via hilfe help > Wartungexpand maintenance > Wartung maintenance > check installation whether the database - backup - job exists and when the last execution took place. 

Possible causes of abortion:

  1. Service client inactive
    Check the service client via hilfe Help > Wartungexpand Maintenance > Wartung Maintenance > Monitor Monitors > Monitor Service- Client.
    Important: If the "Service- Client is not active" please contact the hotline.
  2. Multiple jobs running simultaneously
    Set the start time of the data backup job outside of business hours and without parallel running job activities
  3. Server not available at the start time of the job
    Set the start time of the data backup job within the server runtime
  4. Manual termination by a Bp Event user

Ist das Ziellaufwerk der Datensicherung erreichbar

Das Zielverzeichnis auf dem Bp Event Server muss erreichbar sein, wenn der Server als Dienst gestartet ist. Läuft Ihr Bp Event Server Dienst unter dem Systemkonto, kann es sein, dass das System aufgrund fehlender Berechtigung nicht auf das externe Laufwerk zugreifen kann.

  1. Check the specified target drive and its storage capacity via hilfe Help > Wartungexpand Maintenance > Wartung Maintenance > check Installation > Database - Backup - Directory > check Check
  2. Check the network release of the target drive
  3. Check the storage medium (hard disk, USB stick, etc.) for defects.
